Crouzet has developed an electronic defrost relay for industrial refrigeration units, heat pumps and dehumidifiers, that can run in standalone automatic mode or be integrated into a wider plant management system.

A manual override function is also available.

All heat exchangers are virtually guaranteed to ice over when running, which quickly compromises their performance.

Crouzet's NFR relay monitors this and runs the defrost cycle when the surface has been below -3degC for a set time.

Once initiated the cycle runs until either 18degC is attained, or for ten minutes.

The set time below -3degC can be selected as 25, 50, 75 or 90 minutes, to suit individual applications.

The other parameters are non-adjustable to prevent inappropriate setting.

The manual mode can be selected at any time and runs for a fixed period of 10 minutes.

However the manual cycle will not activate if the surface temperature is above 18degC.

The exchanger's temperature sensor is provided on a detachable flying lead, for ease of installation.

Crouzet have designed the encapsulation of the sensor for superb reliability in the field.

Fast-on spade-type terminals further aid installability of the unit.

The NFR is compact, with 22.5DIN rail or back panel mounting, and is available in IP20 or bare board IP00 versions.
