The versatile TIO telemetry input/output module has user-selectable plug-in options that enable a range of digital and analog input signals to be connected to a radio telemetry system.

New from Celsum Technologies is the versatile TIO telemetry input/output module, has user-selectable plug-in options that enable a range of digital and analogue input signals to be connected to a radio telemetry system.

The signals may be transmitted to a computer-connected or handheld basestation over a distance of up to 300m.

In addition, the TIO may be connected to other devices to modify inputs or to respond to outputs.

Plug-in modules available for the TIO are: eight-channels digital inputs (either voltage free channels or 24V isolated or unisolated); eight-channel digital outputs (either open collector or no-voltage relay contacts); single-channel analogue inputs, with a choice of high (16bit) or low (10bit) resolution, 0-10V or 4-20mA; and single-channel analogue outputs with 15bit resolution, 0.1-10V DC or 4-20mA.

The TIO uses state-of-the-art, licence-free, encrypted, two-way, digital 20mW radio to provide a very high degree of signal integrity and noise immunity, has a data transmission rate of up to 10 readings per second, and is fitted with its own internal antenna, although an external antenna may be fitted if required.

The TIO operates from a DC power supply, nominally 18 to 26V with a current consumption during transmission of approximately 80mA.

TIO is housed in a robust glanded, IP65 ABS case Celsum Technologies' Managing Director, Roy Carter, says: "The radio telemetry instrumentation system has many applications, including monitoring signals in otherwise inaccessible places, in vehicles, on animals, process plant, condition monitoring, for research and development rigs".

"The addition of the TIO module to the range extends the scope of application from purely strain-gauge based devices such as load cells to any type of instrument, provided that it has a standard analogue output signal".

"The addition of digital inputs and outputs allows remote switching and status monitoring, an extremely valuable extension of capability".
