Gateway provides Ethernet via cellular

A Celsum Technologies product story

Available from Celsum Technologies is Digi International's Connect WAN GSM range of connectivity products.

The WAN GSM is a gateway providing Ethernet to communications via cellular networks, essentially putting a router on the GSM network.

The Remote Gateway GSM uses cellular networks to connect almost any remote serial device (EIA232/422/485).

These devices can then be accessed as if they were physically attached to a COM port.

The devices are for where wired internet access is not available or is prohibitively expensive, and can also be used as a fall-back connection for critical locations.

It is claimed to be the industry's first commercially available gateway-router to provide high-speed wireless GSM Edge connections for remote mission-critical data operations.

It creates a diverse WAN connection so that when primary connections are unavailable, mission-critical data continues to flow through the cellular wireless connection.

The product also provides primary communications for remote equipment, such as programmable logic controllers, remote terminal units and other industrial Ethernet and serial devices.

The remote gateway is supported by the Digi Connectware Manager, an enterprise-class management platform for managing thousands of devices and their wireless connections.

It makes it easier to deploy and administer devices over a wireless WAN in a secure and scalable fashion.

It offers batch configuration and firmware control, as well as the ability to monitor the status and health of remote devices via intelligent alarms.
