Control.com Inc., the Web portal for "nerds in control", has made available a new feature: a public archive of contributed PLC (programmable logic controller) programming examples.
Open SCADA system overcomes limitations
Open SCADA system overcomes limitations of closed, proprietary architectures - provides flexibility, reliability, and lower costs.
Visitors to the site are introduced to dynamic, Web-based discussions where they can post or respond to questions directly, or simply peruse the many topics.
The site features technical discussions where automation professionals can ask or answer questions and share their expertise on such topics as remote I/O, SCADA software, networking protocols, and servo controllers.
The new Schneider Automation discussion forums are based on the technology and resources of Control.com, which hosts the largest online community of control engineering professionals.
The technology allows Control.com to display a subset of the entire Control.com forum on the Schneider site, selecting only those topics and items that are of interest to Schneider's customers.
A link to the main Control.com forum is available to Schneider visitors as well.
The end result is an active, online "neighborhood" where working engineers help each other and exchange candid observations in an open environment.
"The value we place on customer opinions is so high that we created a way to share those opinions in a dynamic public community, directly on our home page," said Jean-Marie Berger, Schneider Electric Automation Business Director of E-Transformation and Communications.
"The management and support of communities is completely changing the way we interact with customers.
Quicker reactions to market inputs is our goal.
This public discussion forum where anybody is free to act, is a great first step.".
