A new range of easy-to-use sound level meters is designed to meet the needs of health and safety professionals.

A new range of easy-to-use sound level meters is designed to meet the needs of health and safety professionals.

These new units have been designed to comply with both the current regulations and the forthcoming changes of the Physical Agents (Noise) Directive.

The CR:260 Series consists of four different instruments, which cover the range of measurements most commonly required for these regulations, in a robust, handheld package.

The CR:262 and CR:261, Type 2 and Type 1, respectively, provide for the measurement of Leq, LCPeak, Lmax and Lmin.

The CR:264 and CR:263 units add 1:1 octave band filters to these measurements.

Cirrus Research Sales and Marketing Manager James Tingay comments: "Looking at what our customers most often need to measure, and the amount of time that they have available to make noise surveys and assessments, we have produced a range of instruments that are simple, easy to use".

"We have designed this new range of instruments to provide just the essential features needed to comply with noise at work regulations".

"If the user finds that they need to add some more functions at a later date, the instruments can be upgraded quickly and easily without having to send the unit back to the dealer or manufacturer".

The upgraded instruments, known as the +Version, can be connected to the Deaf Defier 3 software to allow measurements to be downloaded and reports created.

In the case of the CR:264 and CR:263 units, upgrading to the +Version also allows the software to help in the selection of hearing protection, or PPE.

Looking forward, the new CR:260 Series of sound level meters provides a new level of ease-of-use for health and safety professionals and those who need a robust instrument that can be upgraded to meet any future regulations or standards.
