Battery isolator reduces charging system workload

A Cole Hersee product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jan 27, 2009

Cole Hersee has introduced its smart battery isolator 48525/48530 that prevent loads on the auxiliary battery from draining the starting battery.

Cole Hersee said its smart battery isolator is smaller, lighter, generates less heat than competitive products and is not specific to an alternator type.

As the smart battery isolator reduces charging system workload by not connecting to the auxiliary battery until the primary battery is charged to 13.2V, there is lower strain on expensive charging components.

No diode efficiency losses occur when using this smart battery isolator, and it also allows bi-directional charging from the alternator or from other power chargers/converters.

The smart battery isolator also features an LED status indicator and operational start assist.

It is available in 85A and 200A versions.
