C and L equips vehicle repair centre

A C and L Industrial product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Mar 31, 2009

Corcoran Vehicle Repair Centre (VRC) in Portlaoise, Ireland, has installed two Boge SLF 51 screw compressors, an Easifit aluminium airline system and an Ambi-Rad energy-efficient heating system.

These were all supplied by C and L industrial.

Corcoran VRC specialises in the recovery and repair of passenger vehicles, along with light- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles.

Compressed air performs a number of key functions in the provision of Corcoran's services, such as panel beating, spray painting and performing crash and mechanical repairs.

The development of a 30,000ft2 workshop facility in Portlaoise led Gerry Corcoran, managing director of Corcoran VRC, to contact his local compressed air supplier for advice on satisfying the increased compressed air demands of the facility.

JL Bradshaws, the local sub-dealer of Boge compressors for C and L Industrial - the sole authorised distributor of Boge compressors in Ireland - recommended installing two Boge SLF series frequency- controlled screw compressors complemented by a complete Easifit aluminium airline system.

The Boge SLF series combines a direct coupled drive system with frequency control to provide pressure control under variable output requirements.

The SLF is a low-carbon technology that works strictly in accordance with compressed air demand by producing the exact volume of compressed air at the pressure required.

Frequency control minimises idling time and evens out air demand fluctuations.

For Corcoran VRC, this guarantees that the increased volume of compressed air required for the larger facility could be delivered, while satisfying predicted fluctuations in compressed air demand energy- efficiently.

Integrating the Easifit airline system of aluminium piping and airtight connectors ensures optimised energy efficiency by eliminating the inherent inefficiencies of traditional steel or plastic pipe-based airline systems.

While planning the accident repair facility, JL Bradshaws also recommended installing an Ambi-Rad energy-efficient heating system for the large workshop areas.

Ambi-Rad Vision radiant tube gas-fired heaters eliminate distribution and standby losses, and optimise fuel and energy efficiency for Corcoran VRC.
