Monitor enclosure meets military requirements

A Computer Security and Solutions product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jun 9, 2008

To custom manufacture an enclosure to accommodate a TFT monitor in an explosive environment might be beyond many enclosure manufacturers.

In November 2007, Computer Security and Solutions received an enquiry from a supplier to the Ministry Of Defence, with a brief to custom manufacture an enclosure to accommodate a TFT monitor in an explosive environment.

As it was to be sited in an explosive environment, the unit needed some unusual cooling and exhaust facilities.

And this made it a task that not all enclosure manufacturers could deal with; however Computer Security and Solutions stepped up to the plate.

The company's enclosure designers came up with a design that was subsequently approved, and received an order for nine units in the company's standard colour.

These were completed and shipped to the customer in February 2008.

By the end of March 2008, Computer Security and Solutions had received an enquiry for 270 of the same units, in a "corporate colour".

This was duly quoted, and in April 2008, the company received the order for 270 units from the UK Ministry of Defence.

Since then, the US military has been in contact looking for similar units, and Computer Security and Solutions has secured a contract for the next 18 months to supply bespoke enclosures for IT equipment.

According to Graham Gallagher of Computer Security and Solutions: "We put our success down to plain customer service - by listening to the customer and then giving them a solution to their problem".

"This is missed by so many companies, we are told by our customers".

"We are also to launch a range of LCD/plasma TV enclosures for factory shop floors, at the end of June, so keep your eyes open for some fantastic deals".
