The New York Power Authority, the largest state-operated power provider in the United States, has dramatically improved efficiency and collaboration with Cyco document management software

The New York Power Authority, the largest state-operated power provider in the United States, has dramatically improved efficiency and collaboration with Cyco's AutoManager Meridian document management software.

New York Power Authority has implemented AutoManager Meridian to manage their entire power infrastructure, which includes: power generating facilities, transmission lines and other power units.

"AutoManager Meridian has proven to be a valuable boost to productivity,' says Robert Sickles, IT Project Manager with New York Power Authority.

The pressure of a more competitive power market place and the massive refurbishing of various New York Power Authority's projects demanded a more streamlined and integrated CAD and maintenance process across the different sites of NYPA.

At that time, access to, and transfer of drawings between sites was too difficult and time-consuming.

New York Power Authority needed to implement an integrated engineering document management system with emphasis on easy document and data exchange New York Power Authority decided to upgrade their existing drawing management program to Cyco Software's AutoManager Meridian - a highly-scalable engineering document management solution providing utility companies simple access to complex information.

With AutoManager Meridian, power companies can securely manage their power infrastructure and equipment whilst improving vital business processes which results in greater operational efficiencies on a day-to-day basis.

DataCore Technology, Inc, based in Exton, PA, was asked to take the lead in implementing AutoManager Meridian.

To unify the different New York Power Authority sites, DataCore developed a single common AutoManager Meridian user interface that supports the needs of each site.

DataCore deployed AutoManager Meridian, trained 75 users with various skill levels, and imported legacy data from multiple sources, including disparate databases and file systems.

Other features DataCore added to AutoManager Meridian were custom reporting, hybrid drawing management, and automatic importing of title block attributes when users import drawings.

"AutoManager Meridian has proven to be a valuable boost to productivity," says Robert Sickles, IT Project Manager with New York Power Authority.

The design engineers across the state now have a common user interface, standardized workflow, full searching and reporting capabilities and important title block importing.

With AutoManager Meridian, New York Power Authority has powerful access to all designs from anywhere.
