Light grids for detection and
measurement
Datasensor has enhanced its Areascan detection and measurement light grid family with the introduction of the new DS1 series.
Datasensor has enhanced its Areascan detection and measurement light grid family with the introduction of the new DS1 series Designed to offer favourable price/performance ratios, the Areascan DS1 series are multibeam photoelectric devices ideal for reliable detection, measurement and counting of small and different shaped objects on conveyor belts, correct position detection of material in working process, position verification, loop control and detection of very small objects that can be randomly positioned

Extended range of universal plastic optic fibres
Datasensor has extended its range even further with the addition of the recently-updated OF series of universal plastic optic fibres from IES.
A wide range of models, with different detection heights, resolutions and operating distances are available in order to supply solutions that satisfy diverse application requirements.
Different models are available with 100, 150 or 300mm detection heights, with minimum resolution that can reach 4mm for "high resolution" models (only for models with 100 or 150mm detection heights), or 7mm for "standard resolution" models.
"Short distance" models have an operating distance ranging from 150 to 850mm; "long distance" models from 800 to 2100mm.
To provide maximum possible immunity to electromagnetic disturbances, all the electronics are completely integrated inside the light grids.
Protection against ambient light problems is managed with the synchronisation wire between the emitter and receiver.
All models provide a 0 -10V analogue output and a PNP digital output.
The analogue output supplies a voltage proportional to the number of optics interrupted, whereas the digital output switches when an object is detected.
The user can easily verify the operating status of the device by the condition of the LEDs present on the emitter and receiver.
The same LEDs indicate the DS1's self-diagnostics and indicate the correct alignment of the two units.
The ultra-slim profile (20 x 40mm), together with the IP65 mechanical protection degree, the 1ms response time, the ease of installation and setup (electrical connection is made by use of a standard M12 connectors), as well as excellent performance make the Datasensor Areascan DS1 series light grids ideal for many different industrial automation applications.
