A Datasound Laboratories product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 2, 2007

Low power panel PC offers a range of screen sizes from 6.4 to 15.1in, all of which are fitted with a touch screen as standard.

The heart of Datasound Laboratories' latest open frame touch screen panel PC, the DSL-6247LCD, is a high performance fanless CPU running at 533MHz.

The low power system offers a range of screen sizes from 6.4 to 15.1in, all of which are fitted with a touch screen as standard and, depending on which model is selected, two or six serial ports are available for connection of peripherals such as barcode scanners making the systems ideal for POI/POS applications.

Operating system and data storage is catered for using either a laptop style hard disk or, for applications requiring no moving parts, via IDE Disk-on-Module.

Both options are available via the 44-pin IDE connector.

A CompactFlash socket is also present on all but the 6.4in LCD version.

Fully featured, the RoHS compliant DSL-6247LCD also has a 10/100Mbit/s LAN connection, two USB 1.1 ports and a PC/104 expansion bus.

All these features are Windows XP/CE or Linux compatible with device drivers provided free of charge.

The DSL-6247LCD open frame panel PC is also extremely cost effective.

Pricing for 100 units starts from around GBP 350 (includes 6.4in LCD, 533MHz CPU, 128Mbyte RAM and PSU).
