The Pump Industry Awards is continuing its association with WaterAid, and will once again be holding a Grand Charity Raffle at this year's event.

Set up in 1981, this year sees WaterAid celebrate 25 years of its vital work.

The Pump Industry Awards is continuing its association with the charity and will once again be holding a Grand Charity Raffle at this year's event, being held on Tuesday 17th October 2006, at the Britannia Royal Court Hotel in Coventry.

Over GBP 5000 has been raised at previous Pump Industry Awards Gala Dinners and other members have chosen to support WaterAid through employee involvement or marketing promotions, such as Aesseal, which last year donated over GBP 7000 from sales of a water management system.

Brian Huxley from BPMA says: "The BPMA on behalf of the pump industry is delighted to strengthen its association with WaterAid and invites members to donate a birthday gift to WaterAid to help raise money at this year's Gala Awards Dinner".

"Money raised will go towards WaterAid's vital work to help poor communities establish sustainable water supplies such as handpumps and latrines, close to home, for example, GBP 223 could buy one rope pump plus its installation costs to serve 100 households in Madagascar".

Donating a birthday gift will help WaterAid provide the gift of water to some of the poorest communities in the developing world.

From humble beginnings, WaterAid has become a formidable force in the struggle to ensure that, in this new millennium of development and technology, the world's poorest are not left without the most basic of requirements - water and sanitation.

It has already helped over nine million people take their first step out of poverty bringing health, dignity and the time to go to work or school, and with continued support, WaterAid soon hopes to be providing one million people with these life saving essentials every year.
