Danfoss Drives is releasing a redesigned version of its popular VLT 5000 series.

The new 90-200kW/125HP-300HP units have been optimized to provide increased reliability, higher performance, lower installation costs and lower overall costs of ownership.

The new units, VLT 5122 and VLT 5302, provide an optimized drive solution for industrial applications.

The enhanced design gives customers greater ease of installation, reducing the time and costs associated with mounting and commissioning and reducing costs.

The new units use the same operating software as the rest of the VLT 5000 series.

Benefits of the new design include: Space savings - the new designs are on average 35% smaller than their predecessors, with the smallest NEMA12/IP54 full-featured drive on the market; Lower cost - modular construction allows users to buy only what is needed; Easy retrofit - operating software and options remain the same; High reliability - optimized design simplifies mounting and wiring and reduces the overall number of components; High quality - each unit us built using the latest manufacturing techniques combined with extensive testing and burn-in; Increased performance - higher ambient temperature, improved EMC performance and higher dynamic brake duty cycle; Easy maintenance and service - drive design focused on maintenance and service to ensure continuous operation; and easy installation - the customer-reviewed designs ensure greater ease of installation.

Enhanced features of the new design include built-in RFI performance to EN 55011 class B available; Integral disconnect with option of available fuses; New power termination design for easy installation, accepting single box lug or dual cable legs; logic routing includes tie-down provisions to simplify installation and protect against noise disturbance; 98 percent operating efficiency; Options available from Rittal for easy installation of IP00 units in Rittal TS8 enclosures; Ambient temperature ratings of 40-45 degrees C in VT mode, 50 degrees C with changes in switching pattern.
