Plastic pumps gain ATEX 100a approval

A Diaphragm Pumps product story

Versamatic has become one of the first major manufacturers to offer EU Directive 94/9/EC (ATEX 100a) pumps to Group II Category 2GD levels in polypropylene.

Following Versamatic's tradition of innovation, the company has become one of the first major manufacturers to offer EU Directive 94/9/EC (ATEX 100a) pumps to Group II Category 2GD levels in polypropylene - a year before the directive comes into full force on 1st July 2006.

To compliment the existing metal pumps with ATEX certification, the new range of polypropylene pumps come in sizes from 0.5 to 2in, encompassing flows from 0 to more than 650 litre/min.

Coloured black they will be immediately distinguishable from the traditional white polypropylene, ensuring identification in even the grubbiest of environments.

Unlike many competitors who restrict the choice when it comes to diaphragms, Versamatic offers these pumps with Santoprene, PTFE, EPDM (Nordel), Viton and Nitrile (Buna) options, ensuring the best compatibility with the products traditionally pumped in these volatile environments.

Diaphragm Pumps and its sister company C and H International Pump Supplies already has large stocks of these on order awaiting the impending launch.

As one of the largest stockists of diaphragm pumps and spares in Europe, Managing Director Jan Ciupek said: "It was imperative to get this supplement to our range as soon as possible, as we envisage a strong demand for ATEX pumps with this level of chemical compatibility, and the cost benefits of polypropylene over stainless steel are not insignificant".
