Technotrade Structural Services uses the Datataker logging system to provide strain, deflection and movement data in the construction industry.

Technotrade Structural Services uses the Datataker logging system to provide strain, deflection and movement data in the construction industry.

Technotrade Structural Services is an independent materials testing and site investigation consultancy to the civil engineering, building and allied construction industry.

Working predominantly with traditional materials such as concrete, masonry and steel, the company also tests new materials as they are developed.

Working on projects all over the world, the company is continually investigating methods of improving its services to its clients.

Datataker data logging systems were chosen by Technotrade Structural services to provide strain, deflection and movement data on projects in the construction industry, including bridge building and maintenance.

The company found the national support provided by Datataker, the convenience and ease of use of the Datataker system and its software and the direct transfer of data has enabled them to improve and speed the service it provides to its customers.

Operators are now free to carry out the more demanding aspects of their work as prior to using the Datataker system they originally used ultra-violet chart recording systems, progressing to bespoke computer based systems.

Technotrade Structural Services use models DT505 and the advanced DT800.

The DT505 has up to 30 analogue channels, seven digital and counter channels, expansion port for up to two expansion modules each with 10/30 analogue channels and can be used in a network of up to 32 Datatakers.

Most sensors can be connected directly without needing additional signal conditioning.

The Datataker DT800 has a wide array of functions, is easy to operate and is very fast.

It can sample measurements at the rate of up to 100,000 per second, with high speed burst mode sampling.

Up to 130,000 data points can be stored internally and plug-in memory cards expand readings by 65,000 per megabyte.

For enhanced reliability, the DT800 has built-in, self-correcting features and will test sensor integrity and flag suspect data.

Event management facilities provide performance analysis, digital outputs can control equipment and raise alarms and data manipulation includes statistical functions, calculations and sensor calibration.

Data are stored in battery-backed RAM and removable memory cards.

Alarms can be preset.
