Cardiff Council uses DT50 data acquisition systems to monitor water table levels in the area surrounding Cardiff Bay marina.

The Highways and Parks Services of Cardiff Council is using the latest data acquisition technology to monitor water table levels in the Cardiff Bay area on behalf of Cardiff Harbour Authority.

Cardiff Bay has been impounded in order to create a fresh water lake with the key objective of stimulating the regeneration of the Cardiff Bay area.

In certain areas of South Cardiff a series of wells were sunk to control any rise in the water table, and Datataker loggers were chosen to monitor the system and check the pumps are operating correctly.

12 sites are linked to a central host PC at council headquarters using a mixture of GSM and PSTN phone lines.

The host displays the status of each site and data is automatically downloaded on a daily basis to a database from which status reports are run off.

The DT50 loggers will raise alarms if water levels exceed predefined limits and automatically dial back to the host to alert the operator.

The Series 3 DT50 datalogger features up to ten analogue channels, eight digital and counter channels.

The amount of data points that can be recorded are approximately 165,000.

Replaceable internal lithium batteries ensuring that no data or programming is ever lost due to low battery or power failure.

SRAM PC card memory support can be upgraded to 4Mbyte for greater flexibility and improved speed of operation.

Flash memory firmware is simpler to upgrade as it can be actioned direct from the PC for greater convenience and time saving.

Used throughout manufacturing and process control, Datataker data acquisition systems monitor and alarm all types of testing, quality control, energy and environmental levels in chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food manufacturing, HVAC, building management, bulk storage and public utilities.
