Dart adds LCD endoscope to product offering

A Dart Systems product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Sep 10, 2008

Dart Systems has expanded its offering of endoscopes and inspection systems with the addition of the LCD endoscope.

The LCD bore scope/endoscope is designed to allow users to inspect cavities inside engines, machinery and pipes while recording the information they see.

It features a CMOS image sensor that provides high resolution, full colour images that can be recorded or photographed within the self-contained unit.

Lighting is provided by white LED's, ensuring that the smallest points of interest can be inspected.

The LCD endoscope also features a standard 1GB SD card (or optional 2GB card) that will allow up to 1.5 hours of continuous recording or 14,630 photos, and a high capacity battery that will run for four hours continuously after being charged for two hours.

It has a shaft diameter of 5.5mm, which allows the unit to get through the spark plug hole of any petrol or diesel engine.

Currently the unit is supplied with a standard shaft length of 1m, with further options of 2m, 3m, 10m and 30m units also available.

The shafts are interchangeable with a push fit and screw retention connector which means the inspection shaft can be replaced or upgraded if new applications are identified.

The image is displayed on a 3.5in extra wide view TFT hand-held monitor that is protected by oil- and scratch-resistant tempered glass.

The video out facility also allows images to be displayed in real-time onto a monitor or recorded images can be played back.

Recorded images can also be downloaded through the mini USB connector to a PC to be used in reports or stored for future reference.
