The MRP system is claimed to enable order information to be quickly and accurately processed, thus providing a faster, simpler means of monitoring manufacturing activity than by using manual documentation.
With information readily available and logically presented, a company can streamline its procedures and offer a more sophisticated service to clients.
In order to maintain its BS EN ISO 9001:2000 accreditation, DCM is required to undertake a total tracking procedure of its products, for the entire manufacturing process.
Factorymaster, when fully implemented, will help to accelerate the procedures involved, thus further reducing turnaround times.
DCM said it researched current MRP software available on the market before deciding on Factorymaster as the system best suited to DCM's operational requirements.
Factorymaster is also a Midlands-based company.
Its core manufacturing software package provides estimating, sales order processing, purchase ordering, scheduling, project costing and quality control.
James Wildish, project manager at Factorymaster, commented: "DCM is utilising the latest Magic Nine version of the software, which will give the company added capabilities from an e-commerce and client liaison perspective." Glenn Cook, commercial director of DCM, explained the reasons behind the company's choice: "DCM's strategic vision is to provide a market-leading service to clients, from pre-prototype stage to full manufacture.
Factorymaster's robust, versatile software, which enables the manufacturing and account handling sides of the business to interact fully, fits in perfectly with our philosophy.".
