The PowerMill CAM system for high-speed and five-axis machining was the outright winner in the "Best software" category at the Metalworking Production International Machine Tool Industry Awards.

The PowerMill CAM system for high-speed and five-axis machining was the outright winner in the "Best software" category, sponsored by The 600 Group, at the Metalworking Production International Machine Tool Industry Awards that were held during the recent MACH exhibition.

The Award was given for the latest release of PowerMill, which offers easier programming despite the inclusion of an even wider range of strategies.

PowerMill 5 features a streamlined user interface and new opportunities for programming automation, together with a wider range of five-axis machining strategies, improved rest roughing, variable thickness machining, more comprehensive collision checking and a new simulation option.

Commented on the award, one of the judges said: "With five-axis machining centre accessibility on the increase, Delcam offers a very flexible and powerful CAM package that is ideally suited to this application and at a very attractive price.

It seems to have an incredible amount of inbuilt features and routines that take out the drudgery of CAM programming.

Delcam seems to have fully grasped the concept of high speed machining and created software to complement these types of machines - a clear winner from a very high standard of entries".
