CADCAM software shows up at motorsport symposium
Delcam will be promoting the use of its Power Solution CADCAM software at the World Motorsport Symposium 2005 at the Royal Air Force Museum, London.
Delcam will be promoting the use of its Power Solution CADCAM software at the World Motorsport Symposium 2005, organised by Race Tech magazine, to be held at the Royal Air Force Museum, London, on 10th and 11th November.
The symposium is the first of its kind dedicated to race engine technology and racing car aerodynamics.
Speakers at the symposium will include representatives of Toyota Motorsports, BAR Honda, Cosworth F1 Design, Renault and Hendrick Motorsports.
The conference dinner on 10th November will feature the presentation of the Race Engine Designer of 2005 Award and the Racecar Aerodynamicist of 2005 Award.
On the Delcam stand at the symposium, delegates will be able to learn about the latest developments in five-axis and high-speed machining in the company's PowerMill CAM system, with particular attention being given to port machining and to the manufacture of components by five-axis machining from solid.
Machining from solid, rather that using castings, is especially attractive to motorsport companies that need to produce small numbers of components in very short timescales.
Details will also be available on the new releases of Delcam's PowerInspect software for inspection with CMMs and for on-machine verification.
Both the FIA and Nascar use this software to ensure compliance with their regulations.
Companies within the autosport industry already using Delcam's software include: Zytek, the manufacturer of all engines for the new A1 Grand Prix series; Proton KR, the only independent motorbike team taking part in the Moto GP series; ATR Group, pioneer of the use of carbon fibre-reinforced plastics in autosport; and Centro Ricerche Cagiva, the research centre for the Cagiva, Agusta and Husqvarna brands.
