Delcam will demonstrate the latest versions of its PowerMill CAM system and its PowerInspect inspection software at the 2006 Productivity Partnerships event to be held at the 600 Centre from 14th to 16th November PowerMill is firmly established as the world's leading CAM system, especially for high-speed machining and five-axis machining, and PowerInspect is the world's leading hardware-independent inspection software

Software offers multiple modelling techniques
Having all the different modelling techniques in a single package reduces the need to transfer data between multiple programs and so streamlines the whole product development process
CAD software receives press design update
Delcam Toolmaker CAD software's deep-draw press tool design updates shorten design time by providing dedicated functionality for many of the tasks involved in preparing the tooling.
The latest release of PowerMill incorporates even more five-axis machining techniques, together with faster calculation times and easier data management, to ensure both rapid toolpath generation and optimum performance on the machine tool.
In addition, PowerMill can now generate a five-axis equivalent of any three-axis toolpath.
This might be necessary when a three-axis approach is being used for most of a job but where some five-axis moves might be needed to avoid an obstacle or to machine as closely as possible to a steep face.

Reverse engineering makes medical implants fit
Delcam software helps Isiqu Orthopaedics to design and manufacture custom-made bone and joint implants in patients with tumours and major bone loss.
Better control over the point distribution within five-axis toolpaths has been incorporated to take advantage of the improved ability of modern machine tool controls to handle large amounts of data.
Increasing the number of points in the toolpath can give more even machining with less vibration and more consistent loading on the tool.
Both these improvements give a better surface finish and less wear of the cutter.
PowerMill is already used for many five-axis machining applications including the manufacture of blades, blisks and aerostructures for the aerospace industry, finishing machining of ports and other engine components for the autosport sector, and patternmaking and trimming in composites manufacture.
PowerInspect has gained its market-leading position by offering three main advantages over other inspection software.
Firstly, it is completely hardware independent, allowing companies with a variety of inspection devices to use the same software on all their equipment.
This makes it easier for staff to use the company's different devices and allows all reports to be produced in the same format.
Secondly, it can meet all the different inspection needs, including checking of geometric features, sections and edges, as well as surfaces.
Thirdly, the software is extremely flexible.
Reports with pictorial, graphical and tabulated data can be produced to recognised international standards or in any customer-specified format.
This flexibility ensures that the resulting reports can be easily understood by everyone involved in collecting or analysing inspection data.
The latest release of PowerInspect incorporates collision detection, an enhanced Geometric Explorer, additional best-fit options for analysing the results, and improvements to the software's graphics and report generation. Request free introductory details about products from Delcam ...
