More speed as motion controller goes PCI

A Delta Tau UK product story

Delta Tau's latest development of its PMAC2 motion controller is a 1 1/2 slot expansion board for the PCI bus.

Delta Tau's latest development of its PMAC2 motion controller is a 11/2 slot expansion board for the PCI bus.

The PCI version works very much like the ISA bus version but much faster.

The PMAC2-PCI gives "plug and play" automatic address setting to replace the more conventional on board jumpers or DIP switches.

Once the address is set the PCI version works just like ISA.

The motion controller is fast with or without optional DPRAM.

The PMAC2-PCI provides four PMAC2 style motion control channels as standard, but these can also be extended by and optional additional four on-board channels.

The CPU on the piggy back board can also be selected between the standard 8-axes or Delta Tau's Turbo 32-axes version.

A further option that will appeal to builders of machine tools, robotics and other machines with 3D movements, is a high resolution interpolator board offering typical resolutions of 8 million counts/rev or greater.

Delta Tau's PMAC has set the de facto global standard for motion control.

PMAC systems are used in the control of servo motors, closed loop AC induction motors, stepping motors and linear motors in all sorts of machines.

The PMAC's ability to handle any makes and types of motors - in any combination of technologies - makes it ideal for both complex and simple motion tasks.

The company is represented all around the world and is specified by OEMs and manufacturers of machine controls, as well as by end users.
