Low cost version of best-selling
controller
Demand for a low-cost PMAC controller has prompted Delta Tau Data Systems to develop the PMAC2 Ultralite.
Demand for a low-cost PMAC controller has prompted Delta Tau Data Systems to develop the PMAC2 Ultralite Using the same programming language and experience from developing over 40,000 PMAC controllers, Delta Tau has added MACRO fibre-optic technology and speed enhancements to offer the low-cost "MACRO only" Ultralite

PBrain to expand motion control I/O
Delta Tau has announced the introduction of PBrain32 developed by Motion Dynamics in the USA and designed to be compatible with the Delta Tau's widely used PMAC family of motion controllers
The PMAC2 Ultralite is ideal for motor and PLC applications, and the physical wiring connections between motor equipment and the controller have been replaced with fibre optics, eliminating motor noise and negating the need for complicated wiring.
The PMAC language used when programming a MACRO system is the same as all previous PMACs so the Ultralite simplifies the interfacing to different types of drive systems.
By replacing the direct PWM output with MACRO high-bandwidth fibre optics, The PMAC2 Ultralite maintains a digital connection in the motor control loop whilst minimising the number of analogue components in the loop, which ensures the control system offers much higher bandwidths.
The PMAC2 Ultralite board contains the CPU and core circuitry required for position and trajectory calculations and MACRO communication.
All existing PMAC and PMAC2 user programs can be run on the PMAC2 Ultralite.
As with all previous PMAC products, the PMAC2 Ultralite can be used as a standalone unit to execute motion programmes and control machine operation.
When used within a PC, the controller is configured to emulate an I/O block.
This block is relocatable by the user and allows easy access to command processes through the target programme.
The PMAC2 Ultralite is available with PC or VME bus options.
