A DED product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Aug 12, 2005

A compact and versatile kiosk barcode scanner offers a choice between omnidirectional and single-line barcode scanning depending on the requirements of the application.

The Metrologic Quantum E is a compact and versatile kiosk barcode scanner which offers the selection of either omnidirectional or single-line barcode scanning depending on the requirements of the application.

This effective and accurate barcode scanner is ideal for use in any kiosk thanks to its small footprint - at only 50 x 63mm and a height of just 68mm, it's the size of a coffee mug.

Thanks to its unique shape the Quantum E is ideal for use in slim profile systems and with ease of integration in mind the Quantum E has a dual set of mounting holes.

The auxiliary connector on the Quantum E even gives users access to several of the I/O signals, providing the flexibility for external hook-up of the beeper, button and LEDs.

Featuring a "sweet spot", the Quantum E gives the integrator the ability to determine the best location for optimum scanning in a fixed application, making this scanner perfect for interactive kiosks, price-look-up systems, ATMs, vending machines and a host of other OEM devices.

Add to all this the Quantum E's ability to produce an impressive 1650 scans per second, interfaces for USB, RS232C or keyboard wedge and OPOS/ JPOS compatibility plus user replaceable cables and Flash memory for software updates, and DED reckons it beats the competition hands down.
