Design validation time shortened at Sanyo
Delmia's Quest and UltraSpot have contributed significantly to Sanyo Machine Works' objectives of shortening design validation time and improving system quality.
Final contracts were signed in July, and the first simulations have just been completed.
The scope of services being provided by Delmia is considerable.
For the final Airbus assembly work in its new Hamburg plant, the company, which is a subsidiary of Dassault Systemes, will take on tasks such as the material flow, ergonomics simulations and assembly studies.

Software integrates entire engineering process
Delmia's Process Engineering is a radically different process engineering portfolio of modules utilising the most current methodologies within an integrated IT environment.
"Delmia tools will be used mainly for the simulation and visualisation of the critical procedures, some of which result from the fact that components from four different European sites must be assembled at Hamburg", said Detlev Homilius, Delmia's branch office manager in Bodenheim, near Mainz.
As an illustration, the virtual factory models of the gigantic lifting platforms, must take account of the extraordinary demands placed on the ergonomics of each workstation, as well as the kinematics of the aircraft.
Every plane requires an assembly area of at least 80 x 80m and a height of at least 25m.
"We are gaining a great deal of valuable new experience ourselves from this project, so we have set up a Delmia project office at the Airbus site in Hamburg, where four of our staff are working permanently on the latest projects", explained Delmia's account manager Johannes Agrebi, who is responsible for Airbus projects.
In addition to Delmia tools, Airbus is also using other Dassault Systemes products such as CATIA, the global leader in CAD systems.
"With Delmia, we have selected a system that mirrors the strategic aims of Airbus superbly", says Carsten Rasch, who is responsible for digital manufacturing at Airbus Deutschland.
"We have already seen the benefits from lots of the individual projects.
The next step is to integrate the individual applications into a digital factory platform".
Airbus is a global aerospace player with a workforce of around 45,000, mainly at sites in France, Germany, Great Britain and Spain.
This geographical separation naturally increases the significance of integrating different IT structures into a common database.
The first A380 is due to be delivered at the beginning of 2006 and the first flight is to be staged at the end of 2004.
