Delmia has been named the 2005 Technology Company of the Year by Automation Alley.

Delmia has been named the 2005 Technology Company of the Year by Automation Alley at an awards ceremony held last month at the Ford Conference and Events Center in Dearborn, Michigan In its fifth year of honouring outstanding companies, Automation Alley recognised 17 finalist companies competing in seven categories

Automation Alley is a consortium that fosters growth for its member companies by branding Southeast Michigan as an excellent location to do business.

Said Tom Anderson, Senior Director of Automation Alley: "Delmia's digital manufacturing solutions provide a 3D environment and data-sharing that enables manufacturing processes, tooling and systems to be designed concurrently with the product design, bringing product to market much more quickly".

"And, the processes can be simulated in a virtual environment to ensure success on the manufacturing floor".

As a key component of Dassault Systemes' PLM offering with Catia, Enovia, and Smarteam, Delmia solutions deliver a digital manufacturing process environment to optimise production systems before moving to physical implementation at the convenience of a desktop.

Delmia can help improve operations from process planning to general assembly processes and factory simulation across all manufacturing segments within many industries.

These industries include automotive, aerospace, defense, shipbuilding, consumer goods, electrical and electronics, fabrication and assembly and automation.

"We are honoured to receive this recognition by Automation Alley as we firmly believe in this consortium and are committed to helping it carry out its goals of continuing to attract the world's top companies and technology leaders to this area", said Philippe Charles, CEO, Delmia.

Recent studies from CIMData, an independent research analyst firm, show that Delmia digital manufacturing software from Dassault Systemes achieves the following savings for customers: 30% reduction in overall time to market; 65% reduction in number of design changes; 15% increased production throughput; 25% facility savings from optimised plant layout; 30% cost savings due to improved labour utilisation in product manufacturing; 35% cost savings due to optimised material workflow; and 40% reduced number of machines, tools and work centres.

Delmia customers include DaimlerChrysler, Toyota Motor Company, Northrop Grumman, General Motors, Nissan Motor Company, Boeing, Sanyo Machine, ArvinMeritor, ThyssenKrupp Budd and numerous others.

Delmia originally became an Automation Alley Foundation member in 2000.
