De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) has introduced the BSc (Hons) Green Energy Technology degree, which will look at how conventional and green energy is produced and used.

It will also teach students engineering and technology skills needed for jobs in the sector.

The degree will prepare students to become energy technologists and engineers capable of working in a variety of areas in the energy sector.

Students will also study the impact of fossil fuel usage on the environment and learn about treaties and policies relevant to the energy industry.

The course, which is being run by DMU's Faculty of Technology, begins in October 2009 and will take three years, with an option of an additional placement year.
