Designed for all in one installation, combining protection against direct lightning impulses with protection against surges for terminal equipment in a single device, the new family is based on the Dehn patented Radax-flow spark-gap technology, designed to provide maximum system availability and a high follow-current limitation.

The family includes a range of units for TT, TN, TN-C and TN-S wiring configurations.

The modular approach means that it is easy to assemble and exchange modules using a simple module-release button.

Each module has built-in indication of its operating status even when no operating current is present.

Units are also available with changeover contacts for remote signalling.

The Dehnventil M fulfils the requirements of the recently introduced new standard BS EN62305-4, offering Class 1 protection against direct lightning impulses combined with Class 2 surge protection for the terminal equipment.

The Radax-flow technology limits the follow current to the extent that even a 40A gL/gG fuse will not trip - even with potential short-circuit currents as high as 25kA RMS.

The discharge capability of Dehnventil meets the highest requirements of lightning protection level I of BS EN62305-4 standards.

This guarantees full safety protection from lightning strikes of up to 200kA.

Dehnventil has no leakage current, allowing the device to be installed upstream of the meter.

Even an insulation test on the system at 500V DC does not interfere with the device, so no disconnection for the test is necessary.
