Det-Tronics has released the world's first optical fire and gas detectors certified to Safety Integrity Level 2 (SIL-2) by the globally recognised certification agency RWTUV Systems of Germany.

This development was engineered to meet demands of oil and gas industry companies requiring the most reliable fire and gas detectors available, especially as owners move towards implementation of safety systems compliant with the international safety standard IEC61508.

The Det-Tronics SIL-2 certified X3301 multi-spectrum infra-red flame detector and PIRECL Eclipse infra-red combustible gas detector provide the vital elements in the design of reliable SIL-compliant safety instrumented systems to protect critical operations.

The IEC61508 standard sets out a risk-based approach for deciding the safety integrity level of systems, and is widely accepted as the design standard for critical safety instrumented systems in the global oil and gas industry,.
