Deutsch has expanded its hermetic capability to include aluminium MDM hermetic receptacles suitable for laser welding.
Deutsch has expanded its hermetic capability to include aluminium MDM hermetic receptacles suitable for laser welding.
Based on Mil-C 83513, the new aluminium MDM connectors offers the same level of performance in a more lightweight housing that is also easier to machine and install.
"The new aluminium MDM connector will be extremely beneficial for military and avionic applications", says Andrew Small, Business Manager at Deutsch.
"It replaces the need for conventional MDM connectors and feedthroughs and provides the opportunity to significantly reduce the installed cost, via PCB mounting and flying leads.
The ability to laser weld instead of soldering MDM connectors also makes it more reliable in service and provides a more efficient production method, for medium and volume batch manufacturing".
Deutsch is a pioneer in the field of hermetically sealed 'glass to aluminium' connectors.
The company also offers a choice of layouts and features across the hermetic range including socket style straight-ended contacts, which can be offered already terminated with harnesses or soldering.
