Group formed for UK Devicenet users
Since its introduction a few years ago, Devicenet has grown rapidly in the UK and is now the leading Controller Area Network (CAN) based system.
They will alternate between interactive classroom instruction and hands- on training.
During the hands-on sessions, attendees will be able to configure DeviceNet nodes on a network with equipment provided by multiple vendors on specially-developed training boards.
DeviceNet UK now has 15 UK-based member vendors of DeviceNet equipment, including Cutler-Hammer, Festo, Hitex (for Softing), HM Computing, National Instruments, Nohau (for IXXAT), Numatics, Omron, Rockwell Automation, SMC, Turck-Banner, and Wago.
To help users realise DeviceNet's major benefits of reduced down-time and increased productivity a large part of the classes will be devoted to troubleshooting.
The DeviceNet University runs from 9am to 6pm and costs £350 per person (£300 for Open DeviceNet Vendor Association members).
On the day after (23 November) the WMG will also hold DeviceNet Developer Training days for equipment vendors looking to develop DeviceNet compatible products.
These courses will be mostly classroom sessions, concentrating on the theory of developing a product according to the DeviceNet specification.
They will give an overview of industrial control networks before focussing on the DeviceNet models and development tools.
The WMG is the European Open DeviceNet Vendor Association (ODVA) Conformance Test and Technical Support Centre, and delegates will also receive an overview of DeviceNet conformance testing procedures and a tour of the DeviceNet demonstration facility.
Each DeviceNet Developer Training day runs from 9am to 6pm and costs £295 per person (£245 for ODVA members).
