with standard ActiveX Controls or Java Applets, that are available from third-parties or, users can create their own with products such as Symantec's Visual Caf?.
WebView is ideal for remote or rugged applications such as, water treatment plants, manufacturing processes and building and environmental controls.
The product can function as an interface to an existing networked system, or as a complete embedded controller.
As an interface, it can be retro-fitted to any type of PLC, instrument or control system with a suitable RS232, Ethernet, RS485 or parallel interface.
In addition, it can be easily interfaced to third-party SCADA databases using a 'DDE' link.
HTML-based browsers offer users a number of advantages over conventional operator interfaces: Platform independence.
Compatible web-page browsers are readily available for all major hardware and software platforms, such as, Unix, Apple Mac, MS WindowsT or NT.
Wide range of data types.
Web browsers support new data types, including, images, audio (clips and live) and video, in addition to traditional data types.
These new data types offer users more cost-effective control.
Ease of access.
WebView enables users to access remote sites using a dial-up link, RS232, Ethernet or Internet links from anywhere in the world.
Even where there is no permanent link, a low-cost mobile phone can easily be used to provide dial-up access.
Ease of integration.
The open HTML standard provides flexible integration of files and applications.
Dexdyne's new web interface, WebView, offers users a powerful system that provides the accessibility, ease of use and maintainability that is required for the next generation of control systems.
