HRH The Princess Royal officially opened the new premises of Design Reality in St Asaph on 19th January 2006.

Other guests included the Mayoress of St Asaph, the Lord Lieutenant for Clwyd and local members of Parliament.

Also present was Mike Waring from Convatec, one of Design Reality's major clients.

The Princess Royal's took a tour of the prestigious 200m2 two-storey building, visiting the open plan design studio, the model making workshop and the state of the art conferencing facilities.

The tour also demonstrated the company's design and prototyping capabilities and its portfolio of achievements over the past five years.

Her Royal Highness commended the company's level of innovation and expressed a keen interest in both the products and services offered by Design Reality.

In addition to Design Reality's commercial work, the Princess Royal was introduced to the Apple Project, an educational programme that gives secondary schools in North Wales an insight into the product design industry.

Students involved with the Engineering Education Scheme for Wales, were able to discuss their design with Her Royal Highness and received her valuable input.

The day, which also marked Design Reality's fifth year of innovative design and development, was a great success.
