Adding a small amount of DAC renders the surface of the coating highly resistant to fingerprints and markers.

Daikin has developed a high-performance additive called Optool DAC mainly aimed at UV curable hard coats It offers stay clean/easy clean performance especially for high-gloss finishes, so that coated items keep their good looks

Adding a small amount of DAC renders the surface of the coating highly resistant to fingerprints and markers, highly oil and water-repellent and very easy to clean.

As Optool DAC is chemically bonded in the coating system, these properties are highly durable.

Crucially for optical applications, addition of Optool DAC has almost no effect on the refractive index of the coating.

In Asia, Optool DAC is already used on very high gloss finishes, where fingerprint marring is considered a major problem.

Typical applications are casings for mobile devices such as mobile phones, liquid crystal displays, plasma displays, touch panels, and portable game consoles, optical disc surface (BluRay) and optical lenses.
