Datalogic UK has announced a number of new initiatives that will enable it to further extend its mobile computing market share.

Datalogic UK has announced a number of new initiatives that will enable it to further extend its mobile computing market share.

This has already seen a significant increase in its mobile computing business during the first quarter of this year.

The first of these is to bring out a range of exciting new mobile computing products.

This resulted in Datalogic launching two new mobile computing products last year, the Datalogic Jet and the Kyman-Net.

The Datalogic Jet is a rugged mobile computer designed for real time applications in markets such as transport and logistics, field service and retail.

The Kyman-Net is a rugged handheld terminal for industrial and warehousing applications, but also suited to transport and logistics and field service.

Both products have been very well received by the channel and end users combined.

Datalogic will be launching a number of exciting new mobile products this year to expand its offering further.

The first of these will be the Skorpio, a rugged and compact palm terminal designed specifically for the retail market where form factor and weight are key to user acceptability.

This is due for launch before the end of the second quarter of the year.

As Datalogic only sells indirectly it has also been working hard to recruit new partners.

Its concentrated push into the mobile computing sector, coupled with its quality partner programme and the launch of its new partner support programme, EaseofBiz, have helped Datalogic to attract a number of new high profile specialist mobile computing partners.

These include distributors Blackroc Technology and Varlink, as well as solutions providers Sandpiper Corporation and Unique ID.

To support its extended mobile computing channel Datalogic has recently recruited Richard Barnes from Psion Teklogix as Key Account Manager.

Barnes has extensive experience in the mobile computing market and joins a team developed to focus exclusively on Datalogic's mobile computing partners Additionally, Datalogic has recruited two new internal sales people to focus on developing opportunities for its mobile computing channel to progress and fulfil in conjunction with its mobile computing Key Account Managers.

Paul Duggan, Managing Director for Datalogic UK comments: "There are tremendous growth opportunities in mobile computing and Datalogic has already been very successful at winning some major deals from its competitors, many of whom are far more established in this sector than us".

"This suggests that Datalogic has the right products and the right partners to make even greater headway in this sector, and that is exactly what we are planning to do".
