UK is link in Indian machinery supply chain
Northwick Associates has come up with a novel approach to proving in a Chartered Engineer's Certificate for used machinery.
Exporting used machinery to India requires a Chartered Engineer's Certificate.
This usually presents three major problems: finding a Chartered Engineer with the right accreditation; understanding the correct format, style, layout and content for the Chartered Engineer's Certificate; and getting the Chartered Engineer to inspect the machinery in a timely manner and for a reasonable price.
But Northwick Associates of Pershore, UK believes it has the answer.
Jon Isaacs, Chartered Engineer and Director of Northwick Associates explains: "We found that a number of our clients were asking whether we provided Chartered Engineer's Certificates for equipment located around the world".
"The answer was 'Yes', however the cost of sending one of our Chartered Engineers half way around the world would often be cost prohibitive".
"The solution we found was to send the equipment to our Chartered Engineer instead".
"Working with an international client, we arranged to ship their machinery from the USA to India via the UK".
"We found that there was a relatively small increase in freight costs to transport the machinery to our premises in the UK, unpack it, inspect it, produce the Chartered Engineers Certificate and then repack and forward the machine to India".
"The machinery was in the UK for less than a week which also avoided the need to pay import duty and we used the same freight forwarding company to handle the entire shipping which made the whole exercise surprisingly easy".
"As the European distributor for Orbitform in the USA, we already ship riveting machines and orbital forming equipment around the world which means that we have both the experience and facilities necessary to successfully operate this kind of service".
"With our long experience of producing Chartered Engineer's Certificates we can produce quality documents that in fact reduce the amount of time it takes to get used machinery into India".
"In other words, an extra week to send your machine via the UK will undoubtedly pay back in reduced delays overall".
