New name comes to the fore in UK drives market
Following the acquisition of Bauer by Danfoss, the new Danfoss Motion Controls organisation will offer the market a co-ordinated range of drives and geared motor units
Connection technology cuts motor setup time
From April 2002, all Danfoss Bauer geared motor units up to 2.2kW will be supplied fitted with innovative Cage Clamp connection technology which reduces connection time and costs by up to 75%.
The result is a motor with no hiding place for dirt or germs and which is sealed by a completely smooth non-drive end shield.
The motor is fitted as standard with a stainless steel plug and socket connector, rather than the standard connection box, contributing to the overall smooth hygienic design.
The food and beverage industries make special demands regarding hygiene and cleaning in production areas and this is why most production equipment is made of stainless steel, permitting thorough cleaning once a production run has ended.
This allows the use of acid or alkali based cleaning agents, in combination with disinfectants, to destroy harmful bacteria.
Standard geared motor units can only be partially cleaned at best, and on many production lines today it is not uncommon to see cooling ribs which are completely clogged with product residues or belt lubricants, especially in areas which offer limited access.
The fan cowl presents particular problems in that respect, requiring removal for really effective cleaning.
The new Danfoss Bauer Asceptic motors provides a smooth surface which can be cleaned simply and completely without leaving any pockets of dirt to accumulate.
The absence of a fan means that a previously inaccessible source of dirt and germs has been removed.
Coupled with the new Danfoss Bauer 2000 bevel gear units, also designed to facilitate thorough cleaning, the pair constitute a highly effective solution for applications demanding regular and thorough cleaning.
The high IP65 protection standard, together with the acid and alkali resistant paint finish, makes Danfoss Bauer Aseptic geared motors a technically superior solution for the food and beverage industries.
