Destec Engineering has won a GBP 900,000 three-year contract with Shell UK Exploration and Production (Shell Expro) to supply its unique G-range four-bolt pipe connectors for use on platforms and subsea flowlines off Aberdeen and Lowestoft in the North Sea The Lincolnshire, UK-based company, which has been supplying its products to Shell Expro for over five years, will design and manufacture the G-range pipe connectors, hubs and seal rings in a range of sizes for use both topside and subsea

The pipe connectors are shock resistant and have been developed for use in adverse pressure and temperature conditions where they provide extreme leak tightness.

They are also particularly light and compact through being manufactured from high strength alloy and using minimum fluid seal areas, making them easier for divers to install.

Alan Smith, Contract Manager at Shell Expro, said: "Destec Engineering has provided us with excellent service over the past five years.

We are very pleased to be continuing our relationship with them".

"Our ability to respond quickly and efficiently to Shell's requirements was a major factor in us winning this contract", said Alistair Chadwick, Sales and Marketing Manger at Destec Engineering.

"We were also able to present a package that was very competitively priced".

The G-range pipe connectors can be manufactured in sizes from 2 to 40in and in a range of materials and coatings to suit particular environments.

They can be designed to meet ASME and other pressure vessel requirements for quick release connectors.
