Welcome to the first issue
of the Engineeringtalk Newsletter, which we hope will be able to
alert you to the most interesting new developments from your suppliers well before you can read about them elsewhere. The last
time I looked at the email system, over 500 engineers had
requested to get this since yesterday afternoon alone, so it
looks like we're on to something genuinely useful. To ensure you
get this newsletter next week and every week, simply hit "reply",
send us a blank email, and you'll go straight onto our future
circulation list. It's completely free, so why wait? Hit "reply" now!
If you've got any suggestions as to how we might
make Engineeringtalk better, email me directly at the address
below. Best wishes Chris Rand, Editor chr[-email

Story: Major Takeover in Sensors Field
Photoelectric,
barcode and safety sensor specialist VISOLUX has been taken over
by another German sensors manufacturer, PEPPERL+FUCHS. Visolux has
a very strong brand name which obviously appeals to the much
larger Pepperl + Fuchs organisation, and we understand at
Engineeringtalk that it's likely to stay. So if you're a Visolux
customer you'll still see the same people, and indeed, it may
well be that some P+F sensors are rebranded as Visolux products.
And we assume that means the Visolux range won't be turning that famous shade of P+F green.
(For more information, all
there is at the moment is a short statement on the web. Go to
http://www.gb.pepperl-fuchs.com ). ======================================================= *** WEB
ACCESS NOT NECESSARY! *** We summarise the most interesting
product launches of the week in this newsletter: full, in-depth
information is available on the web page indicated next to each
item. However, we can also email the full stories to you! Simply
send an email to: fet[-email removed-]gineeringtalk.com ..with a list of the codes (e.g xyz123) you'd like the full stories
for. Request as many as you like. ======================================================= 3.
Combined range of sealing and bearing materials looks strong
Busak+Shamban is now part of TI Specialty Polymer Products, and we
reckon the link-up with Forsheda and several other specialist
sealing system organisations may make its range worth revisiting.
The high-performing Isolast perfluoroelastomer range of seals is
now offered by Busak+Shamban with the official launch of Isolast
Universal at the IFPEX2000 exhibition in April. The company tells
us that, in 90% of applications, only the single grade is
necessary, saving considerable time in specifying. Our email
autoresponder will send you the full story directly. Just send an email to fet[-email removed-]gineeringtalk.com and quote: bus103 Or read it on the web: http://www.engineeringtalk.com/news/bus/bus103.html ======================================================= 4. For
Simplatroll, read Lenze
Last year Simplatroll, the Bedford
based drive specialist, became part of Germany's Lenze, for which
it had been the UK distributor for some time. This month the
company changes its name to that of its new parent too - so we
here at Engineeringtalk.com say a fond goodbye to the familiar
name of Simplatroll and welcome Lenze Limited. Other than the
name change, the company tells us that customers won't see any
difference! Our email autoresponder will send you the full story
directly. Just send an email to fet[-email
removed-]gineeringtalk.com and quote: len103 Or read it
on the web: http://www.engineeringtalk.com/news/len/len103.html ======================================================= 5.
Higher spec OEM PLCs get even smaller
PBE Systems tells us
that is has packed higher specification with bigger power into a
smaller footprint by the latest version AutoLog AL20 PLC, mounted
on a PCB of just 177 x 108 x 35mm suitable for panel or DIN mounting. This low-cost OEM controller has a high density of
analogue and digital I/Os, configured by the user in terms of
numbers and A/D mix so that one unit suits all machine building
and system design requirements. Our email autoresponder will send
you the full story directly. Just send an email to fet[-email
removed-]gineeringtalk.com and quote: pbe100 Or read it
on the web: http://www.engineeringtalk.com/news/pbe/pbe100.html ======================================================= 6. Tiny
stepper drive still manages 2A per phase
The new PVP192
bipolar stepper motor drive manufactured by Alzanti looks good to
us. It measures just 89 x 76 x 38mm yet can deliver continuous currents of up to 2A per phase. There's PWM current regulation to
give more efficient use of input power and it can handle a wide
range of hybrid and permanent magnet stepper motors with 4, 6 or
8 leads, and at supply voltages from 12 to 36V DC. Our email
autoresponder will send you the full story directly. Just send an email to fet[-email removed-]gineeringtalk.com and quote: alz100 Or read it on the web: http://www.engineeringtalk.com/news/alz/alz100.html ======================================================= 7.
