Sakurai takes over from Chermside

Eriko Sakurai has been named Global Industry Executive Director for the Dow Corning Expertise-Based Industry Group.

Eriko Sakurai has been named Global Industry Executive Director for the Dow Corning Expertise-Based Industry Group, which comprises Molykote brand lubricants, Dow Corning brand industrial maintenance sealants, and Dow Corning and Silastic brand mould making products.

Sakurai will be responsible for all aspects of customer relations, sales, technical support, marketing, channel management, product line and technology development.

Previously, she served as the global industry marketing director for the Dow Corning Life Sciences industry.

She assumes her new responsibilities from Brian Chermside, who was named Dow Corning's Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Director of Sales and Marketing and Customer Service.

"Eriko's wide range of experiences and capabilities during her career inside and outside of Dow Corning will be an invaluable asset as we continue to look for new and innovative solutions to best fulfil our customer's needs", said Stephanie A Burns, Dow Corning Chairman, President and CEO.

Sakurai joined Dow Corning Corporation in 1987 in the personal, household and automotive care commercial unit.

She then held a variety of industry and Asian Area marketing and commercial positions in Midland, Michigan, and in Japan in the Specialty Chemicals and Core Products businesses.

She developed a solid knowledge of the sealant value chain and demonstrated skills in managing channel relations during her tenure in the Asian Area Construction Industry.

Her customer focus attributes were enhanced during her work as the as executive director of marketing and representative director for Avon Products Company, Japan.

She returned to Dow Corning in 2005 as Life Sciences Global Industry Marketing Director.

Chermside joined Dow Corning in 1985 and has served in a wide variety of positions, including Manager of Electrical and Communications Industry, product line manager for methyl fluids and intermediates, and General Manager of the Personal, Household and Automotive Care Commercial Unit in Life Sciences.

He became global marketing director of Life Sciences in 1999.

He will relocate to Midland, Michigan, from Seneffe, Belgium, in August 2007.
