DP provides mouldings for VIIG's wallet

A DP Seals product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Aug 27, 2009

DP Seals, a supplier of custom rubber seals and mouldings, has helped product design consultancy VIIG to create a wallet.

The product features two machined aluminium frames holding matched rubber mouldings with magnetic catches, hinged with a strip of rubber to form a clam shell.

DP supplied XNBR carboxylated nitrile for the mouldings, providing durability and a natural, skin-like, tactile feel, combined with the ability to take colour and aroma.

XNBR offered the tear resistance and flexibility needed for the wallet's hinge.

The material also provides resistance to abrasion and an almost self-healing capacity to minor scratches, according to the company.

The material can also be pigmented to match almost any colour, and infused with various scents.

The mouldings are made in a wide variety of colours and scents, including purple and lemon-scented.

DP altered VIIG's initial designs to make the final mouldings more effective and more easily manufactured.
