Electronics manufacturer Tyco Amp Den Bosch has changed the material it uses for moulding PCMCIA card headers from liquid crystal polymer to Stanyl polyamide 4,6.
Initially, Arnitel VT will be available in two grades.
Arnitel VT 3108 is for both textile applications and roofing applications.
This extremely breathable grade offers optimised rheology for cast film and extrusion coating and E2-UV masterbatch for roofing UV protection.
Arnitel VT 3104 is for medical applications.
This grade offers high breathability as well as a high melting point for sterilisation, which is important during lamination and washing/sterilisation.
Both Arnitel VT grades are optimised for cast extrusion and extrusion coating processes and their key processing benefits include lower waste percentages (50% less compared to competitor's TPE-E grades).
Compared to TPU coatings and films Arnitel has much better film processing rheology, leading to lower waste figures.
There is no need for carrier membranes and equipment choice is less critical.
In addition, they offer a significantly wider processing window in temperature.
DSM is able to provide its own patented UV stabilising system for roofing applications.
Masterbatch E2-UV will enable roofing membranes to fulfill the combined heat aging and UV test required in the latest European norms (EN 13859-1).
Arnitel VT offers users a new degree of comfort, with Arnitel VT 3108 delivering breathability that is amongst the highest available in the market today.
The level of waterproofing offered by Arnitel monolithic membranes outperforms classic microporous systems like PTFE membranes or polyolefinic membranes in roofing as well as in textile applications.
Moreover, the monolithic film gives very high water inlet pressures and provides an exellent viral and blood barrier in medical applications - nor will it require treatment with toxic impregnation chemicals after washing.
Arnitel VT is a flexible material, giving freedom to move and washing and/or sterilisation will not cause loss of performance.
Used in breathable roofing membranes, Arnitel VT will prevent the growth of mould in the wood construction.
