Data Translation's new DT9805 and DT9806 multifunction USB modules offer wide dynamic range, auto ranging and thermocouple support
Data Translation today announced the expansion of its line of USB data acquisition modules.
The new DT9805 and DT9806 multifunction USB modules now offer three robust features: wide dynamic range 100,000: 1 (100dB), auto ranging that automatically adjusts to measure the input signal as accurately as possible, and thermocouple support for measuring temperature.
"The DT9805 and DT9806 modules are easy to set up and use because they enable a user to connect a signal directly to the module without having to figure out how to set the range.
The modules calculate the correct gain value for the given input," said Nigel Doe, UK Sales Manager for Data Translation.
"In addition, they can be used for low-level voltage input applications that require a high gain factor, such as thermocouples." The DT9805 module is a 16-bit, 16SE/8DI, 50kS/s at the +/-10 volt range; 2kS/s at the lowest range of +/- 20mV.
The DT9806 has the same specifications but adds two 16-bit, +/-10.0V analog outputs.
The DT9805 and DT9806 modules feature 500 volt galvanic isolation that protects the PC from ground spikes and ensures a reliable stream of data.
The Universal Serial Bus (USB) is rapidly becoming a common method for connecting data acquisition peripherals.
Data Translation has now announced three complete USB data acquisition series modules over the past nine months.
The complete product line now consists of fourteen separate models with several new units under development.
All models are true USB peripherals with power obtained from the USB cable and adhering to all USB specifications.
Like all of Data Translationûs USB products, the DT9805 and DT9806 support industry-standard software, and include a free software bundle on CD-ROM, including a run-time version of TestPoint drag-and-drop software for application development; the DataAcq SDK (Software Developers Kit for C) for Windows; and Quick DataAcq, a menu-driven, ready-to-run application that lets you verify the operation of your Data Translation board, collect A/D data, display data to the screen, and save data to disk.
Each DT9805 and DT9806 module is shipped with a USB cable, a CD-ROM containing DT-Open Layers-compliant drivers for Microsoft Windows 98/Windows 2000 (NT 5.0), an executable start-up utility to check board operation, a software calibration utility, a free software bundle, and a comprehensive user's manual in PDF form.
The DT9805 and DT9806 modules will be available at the end of July.
