Data Translation's Global Lab Image/2 version 3.0 expands colour processing functionality, adding new image analysis versatility.

Data Translation has released Global Lab Image/2 (GLI/2) version 3.0, a powerful upgrade to its flexible, Windows-based imaging software package that is ideal for the Scientific Image Analysis (SIA) industry and general-purpose imaging markets The new features of GLI/2 include enhanced colour image processing, automatic thresholding, improved analysis capabilities, and additional image capture hardware support

GLI/21s powerful tools and customisable easy-to-use programming environment make it ideal for imaging applications that require measuring, classifying, counting, size distribution analysis, and other measurement and analysis tasks.

Key features of the new GLI/2 include: * Enhanced Colour Plane Tool with HSL Processing Capability.

New functionality includes HSL image processing, which allows for true hue-based operations to be performed in addition to standard RGB, luminance (Y), Inphase (I), and Quadrature (Q) operations.

The resultant chromatic data can then be used with other GLI/2 tools, allowing for precise, calibrated colour measurements and analysis.

* Enhanced Picture Tool for Greater Image Acquisition.

GLI/2 now supports Data Translation1s new DT3120, a low-cost, high-value frame grabber that allows the acquisition of S-video, composite colour, or standard monochrome image data from a single camera.

Additional features of the Picture Tool include enhanced image and AVI capture capabilities, as well as numerous data handling enhancements.

* Enhanced Threshold Tool for Easy Binary Image Creation.

The Threshold Tool now provides an automatic thresholding function that operates on monochrome, RGB, HSL (hue), and luminance (Y) image data, making it easy to obtain binary images from a wide variety of image types.

Extended capabilities include true color thresholding and multiple region thresholding with histogram support.

* New Import/Export Tool for Easy Data Transfer.

The Import/Export Tool allows variable and image data to be easily imported and exported in real-time between GLI/2 and other applications such as Visual Basic, Delphi, Matlab, and others.

* New Prompt Tool with Interactive Capability.

The Prompt Tool adds flexibility, allowing a GLI/2 program to interact with the user during execution.

When a program is running, the Prompt Tool presents a dialog box allowing the user to input requested information (i.e., yes/no, name, sample number, etc.).

The program can then act on the data to perform specific or multiple operations.

"This new release makes Global Lab Image/2 an even easier to use and more versatile image analysis package.

With the addition of supporting our new low-cost DT3120 frame grabber, GLI/2 makes for a very affordable and powerful image analysis solution," said Nigel Doe, UK Sales Manager for Data Translation Ltd.

The new Global Lab Image/2 version 3.0 will be available in April 2001 for £1695.00, with upgrades from previous GLI/2 versions for £395.00.
