Temperature instrument handles tough
environments
TEMPpoint is designed to protect the signal integrity of all 48 channels in even the harshest environments.
Data Translation has released the TEMPpoint series of high-accuracy temperature measurement instruments Each instrument is a stand-alone box with 48 separate 24bit resolution inputs, as well as a USB or Ethernet port for connecting to a PC

Machine vision used in spray analysis application
Tim Olsen at Atlantic Technologies, a systems integrator, has developed an application to measure the diffusion of nasal spray bottles, using Data Translation's DT Vision Foundry.
During product development care was taken in the design of TEMPpoint to protect signal integrity of all 48 channels in even the harshest environments.
Each of the 48 channels has a dedicated 24bit A/D convertor as well as a dedicated CJC circuit to ensure the highest accuracy for the reference temperature (+/- 0.01%).
Superior signal protection is ensured by 1000V channel-to-channel galvanic isolation.
The automatic linearisation for B, E, J, K, N, R, S and T type thermocouples is done in the system and the results are sent with 0.1 degree resolution to the network.
Expansion is achieved simply by adding additional boxes to the network.
TEMPpoint includes constant throughput across all channels at rates up to 15Hz per channel, thermocouple easy connect for fast setup, eight opto-isolated digital input lines for monitoring and eight opto-isolated digital output lines for driving relays.
TEMPpoint is available in four separate versions: thermocouple inputs for USB, RTD inputs for USB, thermocouple inputs for Ethernet (LXI), and RTD inputs for Ethernet (LXI).
The Thermocouple USB version is shipping in early October, other versions will follow shortly thereafter.
The instruments ship with a ready-to-measure TEMPpoint application which is an executable program created with Measure Foundry.
The application can be modified or expanded to meet a particular need.
It allows the user to acquire temperature measurements from up to 48 thermocouple or RTD channels, display, analyse and save data to disk, all without writing any code.
Additionally, the TEMPpoint application offers the ability to export data to other applications such as Microsoft Excel and MATLAB.
Additional information on other USB and LXI software supporting TEMPpoint including IVI-COM drivers, .NET class libraries, and SDKs is available from Data Translation.
