Datwyler Cables+Systems is launching its new Optomod Plus System, extraordinarily compact, pre-terminated Fibre To The Desk (FTTD) cabling with significantly improved attenuation factor.

Datwyler Cables+Systems is launching its new Optomod Plus System, extraordinarily compact, pre-terminated Fibre To The Desk (FTTD) cabling with significantly improved attenuation factor.

Customers can choose between several singlemode or multimode cables that can be delivered within a few days of ordering in requested lengths, with firm protection tubes and with Optomod Plus fibreoptic connectors.

Optomod Plus connectors are mounted to the fibres under laboratory conditions and simply have to be connected to the adapters of the customers fibreoptic connection system.

Optomod Plus is claimed to be the 'slimmest' FTTD system currently on the market, as the Optomod Plus connectors on both cable ends are tiered length-wise and very compact.

In addition, the extremely small dimensions of the connectors allow compliance with the minimum bending radius of the delicate fibres even in the smallest data plug sockets (single cups).

Besides standardised SC duplex adapters (DIN EN 50173-1:2002), Datwyler also offers other common adapters such as SC, ST and FC adapters.

The new FTTD system allows a cost-effective and prompt installation of fibreoptic cables within the work place.

Installers can lay the pre-terminated cables very late into the building, while the outer tube still protects them against typical dirt and possible damage on the building site.

Time-consuming on-the-spot splicing is not necessary.

The protection tubes can be easily displaced, and the connections with the fibre optic adapters can be realised quickly and securely.

"Optomod Plus combines all the benefits of a pre-terminated fibre optic system solution with the space saving dimensions of our unique installation technique.

"We also have a demand for very high quality standards regarding fibres and attenuation factors of connectors and adapters, which exceed standard demands in every respect", explains Graham Small, Datwyler UKs sales director.

Customers can choose between three cable types: stranded Optomod compact cables for inside as well as external applications with a maximum of 24 fibres (Optomod Plus 1); bundled cables with a maximum of 144 fibres in bundles of 12 fibres each (Optomod Plus 2); and the very thin Optomod interior cables with two- or four-stranded compact fibres without supporting elements (Optodesk Plus).

The cables are available with high quality multimode fibres (classes OM1, OM2, OM3) or singlemode fibres from Datwylers own production line.

Datwyler also offers patch cables, data plug sockets, wall-mounted distribution points and extendable optical connection splitters.

With regards to fibre optic pre-termination, Datwyler works according to a certified quality management system meeting ISO9001:2000 standards.

Quality of the fibre optic components is assured according to the requirements of major international customers.

To meet these demands, Datwyler uses high quality devices for measuring and analysis like interferometers and laboratory microscopes with a 400 times enlargement.
