DuPont ACE is a new acrylic co-elastomer that cost-effectively fills the gap between high- and mid-range elastomers.

Designed to meet the needs of the global automotive industry, DuPont ACE can cost effectively replace ECO, CPE, EVA (high VA content), and in some cases ACM in intermediate fluid and temperature resistance applications, such as turbocharger hoses - cold side, TOC (transmission oil cooler) hoses, moulded air ducts and fuel hose covers.

The intermediate temperature resistance makes DuPont ACE ideally suited for applications where operational performance is required in the range from -40 to +140C, and where resistance to oil and other automotive fluids is needed.

For higher temperatures users should consider DuPont Vamac elastomers.

The fluid resistance of DuPont ACE is good especially when aging at elevated temperatures, which makes it ideal for TOC hoses and cold side turbocharger hoses.

"In terms of performance and cost benefit to the user, DuPont ACE is an excellent elastomer offering higher performance than ECO at similar overall cost on a volume basis", said Jacob Sims, Global Marketing Manager, DuPont ACE.

DuPont ACE can also be considered a responsible materials choice because it is halogen free and it requires no heavy metal stabilisers in the rubber compound.

It can be mixed on conventional processing equipment and is usually crosslinked using standard diamine curatives.

DuPont ACE is also peroxide curable and as such has compatibility for use in polyester reinforced hoses.

It has excellent bin stability, which allows convenient use and storage of DuPont ACE compounds.

Because of its lower specific gravity, DuPont ACE can offer approximately 15% weight savings in final parts compared with ECO.

It performs without the need to incorporate lead stabilisers, and still delivers good oil and fluid resistance.
