Peter Paul Electronics, New Britain, Connecticut, USA, has improved product- performance and reduced manufacturing costs for its Series 40 solenoid-operated valve using DuPont engineering polymers
The Zytel HTN51G35HSLR BK420 and HTN51G45HSLR BK420 resins are now certified under NSF/ANSI Standard 61, Drinking Water System Components - Health Effects for hot water contact for fittings, pipes and parts such as valves or manifolds.
To receive this form of certification, material samples are tested at 82C.
The resins contain 35 or 45 % glass fibre reinforcement.
"Zytel HTN delivers an outstanding balance of toughness, strength and stiffness with excellent retention of properties in long-term exposure to hot water", said Kim Richmann, Market Development Manager for Water Management Applications at DuPont Engineering Polymers.
Thanks to its moulding properties, Zytel HTN offers designers opportunities for integrating the functions of several metal parts into a single moulded part.
"This can result in significant cost savings with no sacrifice in part performance or quality", Richmann said.
