Delrin-based chains to appear at Hanover show

A DuPont (UK) product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Mar 31, 2009

Iwis Antriebssysteme and CoKG will introduce their Flexon hinged-slat chains and Mattop chains at 'Motion, Drive and Automation', to be held in Hanover, Germany, from 20-24 April 2009.

The polymer chains are made from Dupont's Delrin acetal resin, which helps them prevent contamination and makes them energy efficient and easy to maintain.

FDA-approved Delrin combines high mechanical load capacity, dimensional stability (also in humid environments) and excellent sliding behaviour.

According to requirements, chain-links produced using two-component injection moulding are available, whereby the strap made of Delrin is over-moulded with a non-slip, soft component made of a high-performance thermoplastic elastomer.
