Dupont exhibits personal protection garments

A DuPont (UK) product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Sep 9, 2009

At this year's A+A in Dusseldorf, Germany, Dupont will be showcasing the latest developments in its ranges of personal protection garments incorporating the brands Nomex, Kevlar, Tyvek and Tychem.

PWG, a Nomex Quality Partner and Dupont will present the High Energy Arc Kit incorporating Nomex, the latest technology used in the manufacturer of protective apparel for use against electric arc.

The kit consists of a jacket, trousers, hood and gloves that are used in conjunction with respiratory equipment.

The set is certified to IEC 61482-1-1 with ATPV greater than 40cal/cm2 and to IEC 61482-1-2 class 2.

The company will also be showing a new generation of low-weight safety gloves made from Kevlar and Nomex, to offer the multi-functionality of high level cut, heat and abrasion resistance as well as repelling water.

The glove was designed especially for the THW Technisches Hilfswerk and manufactured by Seiz.

The back of the glove is made from a flame resistant fabric that combines Dupont Nomex with an applied felt made from Kevlar that increases the safety against contact heat, perforation and cuts.

The glove also provides good abrasion properties and water repellence.

Dupont is also advising businesses on protective clothing and equipment for employees to be prepared for the possible second outbreak of the H1N1 virus.

The range of Dupont Tyvek suits, which includes Tyvek Classic and Tyvek Classic Plus, is said to provide adequate protection against contamination.

Tyvek Classic Plus (Type 4, 5, 6) provides a more adequate barrier because of the combination of the fabric, the tight seams and the tight closure of the zipper flap.

As a result of its manufacturing process, Tyvek has an inherent barrier that delivers strong protection and can help against the spread of the swine flu virus.

For further information on any of the products mentioned, visit the Dupont team at stand C31, hall 5, at A+A in Dusseldorf, Germany, between 3 and 6 November.
